Sony didnt secure anything on a hunch. They just supported developers better and had better policies. Simple as that. MS played it smart by doing what? They had little to do with titanfall (which isnt even exclusive). As for your perception comment ill just point to sales

All of Microsofts decisions are purely based on Sonys. I like Sony because they take more risks, but guess what ? They aren't always calculated.
