Not necessarily, Lucario is the most popular non gen 1 pokemon. Imo i still think mewtwo will come back. Both of them with mega evolutions at 100% damage or Final Smash.

The thing is i dont see pokemon trainer coming back. If true thats technically 3 characters gone which WOULD Easily put Mewtwo and maybe one more pokemon on the roster. (im also counting in jigglypuff)

I don't think so... Lucario and mewtwo are basically clones of each other just like Ganondorf and Captain Falcon... At least the pokemon trainer was unique and I think he still technically counts as one character... I believe in brawl, it was basically 4 characters/franchise at max

2 things.

1. Mewtwo is one of the forbidden 7 meaning he was planned for brawl. So both would of been in the game! But to reason 2(more important)

2. Mewtwo and Lucario are the most different of all clones. They only have that B neutral move thats similar and that still has its differences! Mario+Luigi are more of clones than Lucario and Mewtwo imo!

That said they are different!!
