"Should we play Mario for another 25 year, ditch new game creators, snub the efforts of writing great scenarios, kill off new IPs so that we can keep playing exactly the same thing, at the risk of never be able to say "wow" again when a great new experience comes to us?"
I know of no one that fits this description or has had the experience of playing only Mario for 25 years. Or even publishers ditching new game creators unless their game is crap and doesn't sell.
So you've never bought a sequel to a game you enjoyed?
If you did, was there any "wow" moments in that sequel or was it as dull as you are describing.
No one is being brain washed. I don't think reviewers have as much impact as you say. They could have praised this game day and night and it probably would have sold the same.
