This always seemed a no brainer to me. I always expected 399 in late 2014.

In a way it's a pretty smart move, you soak the early adopters for the big bucks. They're willing to pay it. Otherwise those profits just go to ebayers (as Sony has probably lost a lot of money to ebayers!)

Also, Microsoft cant afford too fall too far behind PS4.

 

The Xbox One will be very cheap to make once Kinect falls in price. DDR3 is way cheaper than GDDR5. The only real surprise was that they didn't launch at 399.

DDR3 is not cheaper if anything it will be more expensive going forward, just like ddr2 memory in PC's is more expensive then ddr3. Also kinect and esram make it even harder to get the price ox x1 down.

 

This is not going to stop them from falling behind.
