Sony isn't trying with Vita anymore because they're satisfied with the PS4. Just look at his comment - If people buy it just to stream PS4/PS3 games, then they don't care and will be fine treating it as nothing more than a streaming device or controller.
If PS4 had failed, what would they be doing? Supporting the ever loving crap out of both PS4 and Vita and trying to push them forward. Now that the "big" console is doing well, they don't care anymore about the little one with problems.
