Some of those are good points, but I disagree with a few things.
| SxyxS said: There are several factors we like to ignore. 1)development costs exploded from psp to vita.(ask nintendo when they switched from Wii to HD Wii U.They underestimated costs and realised that they can't produce and release games at the same pace they did with wii or do with 3DS.The same with ps vita games:neither Sony nor 3rd parties can release vita games at the same rate they did for psp. Considering that Bend and Guerilla Cambridge already have started to develop ps4 games their studios must have a lot of staff and this staff already has been working on a vita game for 2 years=vita games seem to be pretty expensive(i guess 1/3 of ps3 games as minimum) |
We don't really know that. All we've heard from Sony is that development costs for Vita games are closer to PSP than to PS3.

Which explains things for third parties, sure, but not for first party studios. Vita had a pretty good, though probably too western focused, launch line-up and then it dried up. So that was it. There was nothing for the remainder of the year, not even for the holidays. It is not much of an exaggeration to say that the launch window games have been SCEA/SCEE's entire investment in the Vita to date, other than Killzone and Tearaway and some ports. Games take a long time to make, so were they counting on the Vita failing all along?

I doubt Gravity Rush would have sold any better on the PS3 and it has made decent PS+ fodder, so that's hardly a loss. Golden Abyss was an impressive handheld game but wouldn't have made a suitable console entry, especially coming so soon after Uncharted 3. If they had dared to release it on the PS3 it would have been to Uncharted what Judgment was to Gears or Ascension was to God of War: a sign that the series needs to take a rest.

This is the part I most strenuously disagree with. The Dreamcast amassed an incredible library in such a short time. You are a madman, sir.
