Everyone I've ever met who became a real pro at the original SNES version seems to still believe it to be the best in terms of pure racing. It had a level of control and technique that just hasn't been duplicated in any of the sequels. It really shows the greatest difference between a master and someone who is just good. Learning the secrets of the controls almost became a science.
