Zelda oot was a 15 year old HD port and was the tipping point for 3DS success. There was a Dragon Quest port of an old game for 3DS as i remember and it sold very good. Mario2D was somehow recycled from the 3ds version but you call it big gun?well than Monster Hunter is.

Ocarina of Time was not the tipping point for 3DS. Go back and look at the weekly charts, 3DS was averaging about 70-80k then Ocarina gave it a boost to 100k for a few weeks then sales went back to 70-80k. The $80 price cut caused to jump to 350k then level out at 175k. Mario Land+Mario Kart were able to give it a strong holiday as well as Monster Hunter in Japan (first time this game was on handhelds).
3DS was already selling extremely well when Dragon Quest released. Had Dragon Quest X been Wii U exclusive and a traditional RPG instead of an MMO it would have been considered a big hitter.
NSMBU is a big hitter because its an original entry in a series that consistantly sells extremely well. Not a port/remake/spinoff
