I must say, casuals are capable of buying good games. I hate to say this, but they just need "guidance", in a way. Many of Nintendo's games on the Wii or DS were bought largely by casuals, and most were good. 


There's no shame in that. I don't believe that large developers and publishers can always rely on dedicated gamers, although establishing credibility amoung them is very desireable. And a dedicated fanbase can help point the mainstream market in the direction of good, appealing games.
