The game gets "better" later, but "better" is relative to how it was when it started. Overall, it's not the ambitious title that many wanted to see for Nintendo's first HD 3D Mario. It's a good game, has a good amount of creativity, but it lacks any sort of "wow" value that previous console 3D Marios had. This one had virtually little to no wow value.
