Turning off weapons? You might as well go play a racing sim.
The fun of this game is being able to play with everyone which includes the ability to have someone who sucks get awesome items to be able to remain competitive and have fun. It takes real skill to be able to overcome that. Turning off weapons would just make the game way too easy.
You might as well say FF13 isn't worth getting 'cause it isn't really doing anything different, just a new story. Sometimes you just don't fix what isn't broken (see: FF12, SMS, etc.).
And by the way, saying "this isn't a flame thread" neither necessarily makes it true nor protects you from moderation.
