I think they did not delay it because they need more time. Without Donkey Kong we would have no games until mario kart 8 release for WiiU.
Actually I thought 2014 would be better then 2013

I know Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. are high quality games and I am very excited !! But without 3rd party support, I do not see why 2014 should be better. And I am pretty sure that games like AC5 will not come to WiiU anymore.
