Partly true, but I expect both PS4 and X1 sales to drop off over the next quarter. That's been the generation-wide trend thusfar. That, and sales are basically tied in NA for the moment. The PS4's price likely means that market will eventually go to Sony, too. The real problem with the X1 is that it's splitting most of its market base with the PS4 and losing on most fronts. Back in Gen 6 the PS2 managed to sell 150 million units because the original XBox didn't really split the market base. The split started happening for real with the 360.
If the PS4 has unified the market base again (with the exception of the MS and Nintendo hardcore, of course) then it will once again hit 150 million units, give or take. That puts the X1 in the 30-40 million unit range.
So to recap, I expect sales to slump soon, the Wii U is the cheapest console, and still has the lead despite a year of poor sales. It most definitely can manage second place. It's just difficult.
