People who say not enough storage. Some ds cartridges go to 2gbs which is 1 less than the gcs disk.

Okay, as much as I love the DS, I'm going to have to stomp this right now.

The biggest DS games are 64MB. That's right. Sixty-four megabytes. That's it. Not that big, is it?

Now, thing is, DS carts are really just modified SD cards - I believe they use the same standard and everything. With that said, Nintendo could theoretically release DS carts as big as 32 gigabytes, as that's the biggest that SD cards currently run. Of course, that'd be entirely unrealistic, but you get the point. Personally, I think the biggest we'll ever see a DS cartridge, given manufacture costs and the whole fact of games not needing much space, would be around the range of 512MB.

But, I also think that's the biggest ever possible. I still don't think it'd happen. It'd probably be closer to a 256MB cart, and probably the only in the DS's lifespan that uses a cart that big.

If we saw a SSB:DS, it'd probably be closest to Melee in appearance (given that it's at so much smaller a resolution, it wouldn't be too hard to pull off similar looks). It'd be closest to Brawl in content (I mean, come on. Mario Kart DS is arguably the best of the Kart series, and it has me constantly coming back to it after owning it for two years). As for touch-screen usage, I think that'd be minimal. Nothing enormously integral for the gameplay. You'd likely touch the screen to unleash a Final Smash, and possibly to use a few other items. You'd also touch the screen to do your taunts. With that said, the DS has enough buttons for everything.  I think the bottom screen would otherwise display the timer, each player's damage gauge, and each player's stock. Maybe also an image of the item you're currently holding that you can press to drop the item.

Considering the direction that Nintendo has gone with their more hardcore series on the DS, and the direction that SSB has been going as well, I'd think that this is almost exactly what we could expect from a SSB:DS. I also think we will see a SSB:DS somewhere around holiday season 2009.
