I'd say that's probably because of new manufacturing processes for those PS Vita components and/or a better battery, not because of the LCD itself. Main problem I have with those screens is how black isn't black, seriously, I have a 2 year old OLED smartphone and I personally didn't upgraded it yet because of how great the screen looks. By buying another mid range phone today, like I did when I bought mine before, I would have to get one with an LCD screen since OLED screens now are only present on certain high end devices, and black level and contrast on those panels look awful for me, I personally can't stand LCDs on portable devices after seeing how much better OLEDs are when talking about IQ.

Honestly, I get by well with my PSP 3000 screen (and you know how some people hated that) and my ASUS VE248 for a PC monitor/PS3 screen, maybe we just have different levels of "screen appreciation".

The neverblack black is something I got used to...

I guess that would be the right answer. I played a lot on those CRT screens before moving to LCDs, so I guess that explains why I greatly prefer OLEDs, personally I have never adapted to LCD's "grey" blacks, since the CRTs I used had great black levels like those current OLEDs. LCDs are much, much cheaper to make though, and I believe that's their real advantage when talking about screen technologies.

I was still playing on them until 2011, I know what you mean.
