It'll never happen. The second controller will be too overpriced, and not enough games will end up utilizing the functionality. It's far too late for this idea to come to fruition and actually take off.

First off  who says you have to buy a second gamepad? Since Nintendo is all about local coop  just invite a friend that owns a WiiU so he can bring over his gamepad  et voila.

2)  The second controller compatibility has already been patched into the WiiU firmware with an update. No point in patching it in and not using it.

Right, so you're going to make your friends (who probably don't own a Wii U) buy Gamepads.  Awesome idea.  Because we all know that everyone has a Wii U, haha.

The Wii is now compatible with a second Gamepad... and how many games utilize it?  How many have been announced?  How many unnanounced?  Zip, zero, zilch.  There is absolutely no indication that this functionality will every be used.

Re-read and try again you dont make sense.  Actually go back in time and do something else instead.

Its Invite friends over that have a WiiU gamepad. (you know like Invite people over and play Tekken or Resi Revelations or NSMB2 on 3DS) not FORCE people to buy a device ROFL....

and Its WiiU not Wii....

Actually it's Wii U, not WiiU.  See, we're both wrong.

My point is that how many friends are, first of all, even going to own another Wii U?  I never had any friends with a Gamecube, so expecting others to have extra controllers around for my sole benefit wasn't exactly in the cards.  And it's worse the Wii U since even less people own one by comparison.

Inviting people over with a 3DS isn't an issue since everyone and their grandmother has one.  That's not actually making a point.  This argument works against you.

By the way, I went back in time and figured out that you're still wrong.  Sorry.  I know not everyone has a time machine.  But, hey, you can time travel too... just follow your own advice of how to score a second Gamepad.  All you have to do is find a friend with one!  Oh wait, people with time machines are nearly as hard to find as people with Wii Us.  Oops, nevermind.

dont forget the fact that Ninty isnt even selling the pad by itself, so even if it did support two gamepads, and your friends dont have one(which is the more likey scenario, hell i know more people with PS4 than Wii U and that guy sold his) you are screwed.
