Well, so basically SCE does some of the marketing job for 3rd party games? Well, that is a merit not a direct strike. We all know Nintendo treated 3rd parties like shit during NES era and even now they make clear that their 1st party is the focus and the 3rd parties are just there to add library.

I believe we all should see this situation of the 3rd parties point of view. Nintendo always was a problem to deal, so it made sense to jump in the PS1 and stop supporting Nintendo. For 3rd parties, it would be better if Nintendo went away or became irrelevant (I'm not saying I want this, its a 3rd party perspective).

In a similar way, when PS2 dominated, 3rd parties got worried. They supported the 360 because they feared a monopoly where SCE would determine all the rules. SCE may be good to deal with, but things can change. So the current situation with a more split market, it's the 3rd parties completee dream where console campanies have to fight for them.

Besides the second paragraph, Nintendo still can fix it. They just don't seem much inclined to. MS and Sony went to 3rd party publishers and asked what they wanted on their new consoles (that's why they are so similar). Nintendo just throwed a box at then and said "Please understand, support it". Nintendo has to fix their attitude and start treating 3rd parties as an important and vital part of their enviroment. People want GTAs, CODs, BFs and so on. When you get a PS4 or One, you can be pretty sure that you will got all of these hot new titles. If you get a Wii U, it's a lottery. COD? Yes. BF? No, and so on. People say that Nintendo gamers don't care about these games. I don't think so. I think Nintendo gamers who cared about these titles are now Sony or MS gamers.
