It's a gen 7 console. I have no idea why WiiU fans just can't accept that.

You can argue that it has 7th gen equivalent tech (still not entirely true), but it's not a 7th gen console.  It's an 8th gen console just like the PS4/XB1.  The WiiU is just a much weaker 8th gen console.
