Does Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze pushes WiiU to the limits?

Not every game needs to use the gamepad, so why not power it down and save power? Mine sits in the charging cradle 24/7 unless I'm using it., but some people seem to let it run all the time when playing with other controllers. This game is going to be FUN..... And oooooh the fur!
