So if Nintendo made a console but didn't give any exclusives, do you think anyone would buy it? Why would Nintendo make a console if it wasn't going to give any 1st party games to it? No one would buy the PS4 or Xbone if they didn't have 1st party. Let's say Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony all didn't make 1st party games and everything was available on all platforms. What would people buy? Value would be determined entirely by price to power ratio, and Sony would crush everything. Xbone would come in second not due to price to power, but due to the fact that they like Sony have a good online service. Nintendo would be behind in price to power, and has poor online, so it'd come in third. But then can you blame Xbone or Nintendo in this case? Nintendo's console was designed around providing unique gameplay with the gamepad, but without any unique support, that all becomes pointless. Xbone was also designed around a unique experience with the Kinect, some of which involves a gameplay experience, so if it can't provide that, what's the point of the extra 100 dollars for a fancy camera? This is a completely unfair comparison. Each company provides a unique experience. Each brand derives its value from a blend of power, price, and gameplay, and has a different design to deliver that. All you accomplish by asking this question is to show that Nintendo and even Microsoft to a point rely less on price and power and more on a unique experience to create brand loyalty.
