I don't think the gap will widen. I don't even think the games will advance much beyond this point. The PS4 has a very simple and straight forward architecture. Nothing you would have to get the kinks out. The X1 has more potential to advance because of the uncomfortable and complex architecture.
I'm not saying that it will close the gap or will ever have experiences on par with PS4 but there are possibilities to make the games run better with lots of optimization.

You have a valid point. My guess would be that the X1 gets the PS3 treatment from multiplats because of its uncomfortable and complex architecture. Sounds like what we heard about the cell.

It's not clsoe to the same. The 360 had numerous advantages like better gpu, memory, ease of development ps3 has the cell, if used properly cell made ps3 slitghtly better overall. it was learning to code for ps3's alien architecture that took time to tap into its power.  in this case both similar architecture with ps4 having an even betetr gpu, better memory, ease of development. The gap is not going to go away. Ps4 has all the advantages this gen. The gap is a lot bigger then last gen.

My point was that if the devs are saying the architecture is uncomfortable and complex on the X1 then they will use the PS4 as the primery console due to its power and ease of programming. The X1 will be stuck with the inferior product imo.
