While I enjoyed both Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us, I feel that TLOU had a much better ending and story overall. I think that Bioshock Infinite had some great characters and an incredible setting rife with narrative opportunity, but I feel that its outrageous plot (i.e., multiple dimensions) cast aside several of the potential themes it could have explored, in favor of a sci-fi twist. The only theme that seemed to be explored in the end was the idea of redemption for Booker, until you realize that he's largely trying to undo the actions of a man that he never became in his dimension.
I liked the ending for The Last of Us more because it offered a clear resolution to it's Firefly storyline, but also left what Joel and Ellie do afterwards open-ended. Does Ellie believe Joel? Does Ellie accept Joel's answer and way of living and return with him to Tommy's settlement? Or does Ellie not like Joel's answer and decides to do something else? Whatever the case, the ending was thought-provoking, not because of some strange sci-fi explanation, but because it intended for players to wrestle with the progression of its two main characters.
Again, I enjoyed both games, but I simply liked the story and ending of The Last of Us more.
