Even so, I highly doubt they can make a low-power GPU with that much power that could fit into an affordable console. Not until the PS5 and X-2 are on the way, at least. |
Well I believe that a GTX 780M, which is the most powerful mobile card on the market is at something like half the card mentioned in the specs at ~2.3TFLOPS. Give it 3 or 4 years, plus the ability to push the card faster than in a laptop due to superior cooling of the console form factor and I think it would be doable, but I agree that it would be expensive. It would still be viable, but far more expensive than recent Nintendo consoles and I don't know if they want to abandon their place as the cheapest option in the market
It's difficult to speculate on price though as the 780M doesn't seem to be available for purchase on its own
EDIT: Also, it could well be that Nintendo ditch their focus on small form factors and power consumption next gen and go all out on power - A small box I can understand the appeal of, but it doesn't seem to hurt Xbone and does anyone really think about power consumption when buying a console? Of course you still need a big PSU and good fans to get away with it which can be expensive but who knows? It's probably fake anyway, why not speculate?
