| rocketpig said: Mentioning Home as a selling point while comparing it to Second Life is flat-out silly. Second Life is FREE. It runs on most computers that people already use in their homes. It's largely populated by casual "gamers" (using the term "gamer" very loosely in reference to these people). These people WILL NOT pay $600 to play a cut-down version of the game they're already playing for free. Could we please shut the f*** up about this? While it's a nifty addition to the PS3, it's not, nor will it ever be, a system seller. There are plenty of other points to make about the success/failure of the PS3. Leave Home out of it, it just makes your argument sound stupid. /endrant |
And what the f*** do you know? What is very stupid is to answer the way you did.
I made an analysis with a few ifs that IMO could turn around things. Nobody knows how people
will truly react at the end to various things. Nobody, in case you didn't notice, includes you.
Home is different to secondlife for a couple of things, first it will be controlled to be safe for
children, second it revolves around gaming. Another silly thing is to assume that saying Home
can be a hit implies people switching to it from Secondlife... Hell! so bad manners to expose
so poor reasons! I'm positive Home will neither be the ONLY option to buy or downloas demos,
as some people guess. Of course it is faster to go to the store and sure it will still be there.
The success factor can be that gamers get to know each other there, chat a bit, maybe
create teams and then go for online play. It creates a comunity arena where to meet people.
I think it beats meeting somebody while shooting aliens, but you might think differently.
Also, if people seem to like so much the achivements on Live I guess the halls of fame in Home
can also be very successful. These are all possibilitie, time will tell if it succeeds or not. Time, not you.
Review a couple of things, you conclusions and your manners.
cheers
