Its basically DKCR for Wii but in native 720p at 60fps with added geometry and use of programmable shading...
and it looks fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!

My thought exactly. BUT! I can't understand why this game has been in development for so long. It has been more than 3years since Retro's last game, 3years of secrets and speculation and the result is what you described... Did Retro do nothing but pick their noses for 1year and a half cause when you see studios like Naughty Dog give us in the meantime UC3 and TLoU, or studios like Ubisoft giving taking 2years to give us a AC games, what you described perfectly and which is a 2D game should not have taken more than 2years.

The game does look fantastic, I'm buying it day one. I just wished it was a ambitious game like a Metroid Prime game instead. At this current state, I see no reasons why this game did not make it in time for the Wii U's launch.

Agree. To me it looks like they haven't spent three years, I mean what happened to Retro who really pushed the hardware with Prime? No, I remember reading several news about Retro hired several professional graphics people. From high ranking studios, can't remember if it was one from Naughty Dog but it was nevertheless in that league. Graphics people who twittered things like their next project being an awesome and really good looking title. This was around 2011, after Returns was released. So I think that Retro began another project before they also had to make this one when Nintendo figured they had to delay several games (probably mid-2012).

And remember the designer from Retro who was on VGX along with Reggie, Geoff asked him if they had one or two studios right now, he just smiled and said "Can't tell ya"... Miyamoto was also asked last E3 if Retro had two teams, and he replied with an open  "They are capable of that." Hints are coming everywhere if you pay attention to it. Still Tropical Freeze looks like a great game, but I'm certain that Retro has more coming in the near future...

Yep.
