Yes augmented reality stuff has been done. But it's been done like shit! And with no where near the level of social interaction I described in the OP. No one has done anything close to that!
By the same arguent Nintendo shouldn't have done the Wii because motion controls were done before!
It's all in the excecution, and a really high quality, well executed social gaming focused ar prduct has not been explored. I personally think kids would love it!
