Actually Xbox was initially the Sega Dreamcast fan's console of choice.
sequel to it's best game in Jet Set Radio Future and a highly anticipated title (Gun Valkyrie) was shifted from Dreamcast to Xbox. Sega GT also migrated to Microsoft's platform.
If you were a Sonic Team fan, GC was the logical choice though.
