There are only two companies on this planet making substantial profit building handsets right now, and I'm just not confident that Nintendo could be the third when former titans like Nokia and Blackberry are dropping like bowling pins.
The 3DS has enjoyed what success it has by slipping through the cracks in the smartphone market (enthusiasts who want specialized gaming interface and children who can't afford a data plan). Trying to build a Nintendophone would likely diminish differentiation and pit the company squarely against rivals it can't hope to defeat.
