@OP
You make some very sound and understandable points, and I more than perhaps anyone here agrees and WANTS a new, gorgeous, epic HD Star Fox, a REAL, GOOD Star Fox game in the mold of 64 the way it's fucking SUPPOSED to be. I have wanted that for over a decade in fact.
But whether we actually finally GET a new (GOOD) Star Fox game or not, the idea that a Star Fox release is going to SAVE the Wii U and make it's sales go boom, is not a realistic one. The SF franchise has never been one of Nintendo's top sellers. It HAS consistently produced million sellers, but then again, so do MOST of Nintendo's franchises. But Star Fox is a not a system seller for most folks, not in the way that Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart and Smash Bros. are. It would be GREAT to have a new Star Fox, along with a new Wave Race, and a new F-Zero, and a better sequel to Excite Truck than ExciteBots, and a new StarTropics game, and a new HD Chibi Robo game for Wii U, etc.
But even if all of those happened (which would be my dream come true), not a single one of those games by themselves would help dramatically boost Wii U's console sales. The combination of ALL of them might certainly help. But Star Fox alone, even if it's as epic and glorious as I imagine it could be, would not drive Wii U sales significantly enough for me to agree that it NEEDS to happen. I WANT it to happen, but it doesn't NEED to happen, not in the same way that MK and SB and Zelda U NEED to happen.
