You are right somwhat, but still missing the point.  The point is that it is a selling feature that appeals to non gamers or casual gamers.  Im sure if i showed him a fishing game or a card game on the x1 he would like that as well.  Consumers may be able to get a device that does something similar for cheaper, but the point of the x1 is combine everything into one device.

The point of the XBONE doesn't matter. A non gamer is not going to spend $500 for TV voice features when a $50 device can do the same thing better. A casual gamer would probably prefer the XBONE since it is an all in one device with gaming and TV, but you certainly didn't describe your father as one of those. Talking to the TV is a selling feature, but only against the PS4.


First of all, the console wont be 500 forever.  Heck, it probably wont even make it a year at 500.  This is a conversation about how this generation hasnt even started yet, remember?  The x1 will probably spend the majority of this generation at or below the $300 mark (i assume). Look at my original post, notice how i said IF microsoft gets the price down?

secondly, it is a feature that can attract a casual persons attention, it is microsofts job to give them a reason to buy it.  Again, this gen is early, mass appeal games can be made, features added, etc. that could do that.  What the tv in does is grab the attention of somebody that may have never looked or wanted to look at a gaming device. That is why I say it COULD be a big deal for casuals.
