Turn based, because then i have control of my whole team and don't have to rely on questionable AI for party members.

if it is an action rpg i prefer the type of gameplay found in Mega Man Legends/ Kingdom Hearts where you fight in the environment you are in and you use the buildings and other stuff to your advantage.
