I mostly play PC and 3DS these days. If the 3DS died, that'd likely mean the market for dedicated handheld gaming consoles has died. It'd be sad, but I'd then just play games on PC/(and get a Wii U for my Nintendo fix.) If Nintendo went third party, then I'd just buy whichever console I can play my favorite games from them on (assuming the quality remained good.) If the games were multiplatform I'd buy a PS4. If the games were on both platforms, exclusively, then I'd get both. Basically, I have no reason to by a PS4 or an XboxOne until their prices drop, because I can have similar experiences on PC. If Nintendo moved to these consoles, then I'd play for their different experience.

For reference, I don't yet have a Wii U.
