What made you switch consoles?

My Console history:
2nd Gen - Coleco Vision + Expansion module # 1 played Atari 2600 games, & my grandparents had an Intellivision which we played while visiting them (and I bought one years later off eBay for nostalgia).
3rd Gen - NES, my parents had bought the Atari 7800 the year before but that was all but forgotten after the NES arrived the following Christmas.
4th Gen - SNES, Genesis (Secondary) which a college mate sold me in 1995 for $15 which I would have ended up skipping otherwise
5th Gen - N64 was the last console my parents bought for me and my younger brother, after that point I was working and could buy my own consoles. PS1 was the first console I purchased on my own (which broke the first day and I had to go back for a replacement). My friend had a Sega Saturn, and I liked a few of the games, so I bought one off eBay years later.
6th Gen - Gamecube, PS2, & Xbox. This was the first gen that I skipped Sega completely, as I had no confidence in the Dreamcast staying in the marketplace, which I was proven correct.
7th Gen - Wii, Xbox 360. This was the first Gen that I skipped Sony as the PS3 was priced far too high for a video game console in my opinion. By the time the price came down, I didn't bother with it. I was happy with the games I had for 360, despite not being happy with the hardware failure rate (between myself and my brother, we got hit with the RROD 3 times).
8th Gen - Wii U only so far. Xbox One is now the overpriced console of the gen for me. I might get the PS4 at some point, but don't plan to in the immediate future.
