As of now, when looking at the games already released, there's no doubt in my mind that this is game of the year. The onyl games that could contend with SSBB for GotY are MGS4, LBP, and Spore, imo. MGS has a history of getting jipped when it comes to GotY awards, so it's really a fight between SSBB, LBP, and Spore.

Yes, but Metal Gear Solid has always been rated higher than Smash Brothers, and it has more hype than any other Metal Gear game. If the game lives up to the hype, it will most likely go down as the greatest Metal Gear game of all-time. Metal Gear Solid 4 is suppose to be the game that defines the PS3 and takes full advantage of it features, such as, Blu-ray, Cell, ect. I hate Metal Gear games, but I won't discount this games potential.

Grand Theft Auto is another game that will be a heavy hitter. I don't see Smash Brother winning Game of The Year at all, not when the other games I mentioned are coming out in the same year.

Well, SSB also has a history of getting screwed when it comes to reviews.  SSBM was one of the most played games last generation, yet it reviewed poorly, and the original SSB scored in the 7s.  Brawl is the first SSB that is getting the recognition it deserves when it first comes out, and it's been scoring in the 9s, so I could see this one if any getting game of the year.

And I hope you're right about MGS. It will probably be my personal GotY, and I can only hope that MGS4 finally gets the recognition that the series has always deserved.
