As someone mentioned before, I also recommend to go in reverse order, get a Wii U first and the PS4 later, right now there are very few exclusive games for the PS4 and those will come later, and you never know maybe you can catch a good promotion when the hype dies a little bit.
Answering your other questions... Yes the Wii U is backwards compatible, so you have a big selection of games to choose from and at a very low price.

-Need for Speed Most Wanted (if you have not played it in other console)
