In response to the news, Sony said: "We recognise that China is a promising market. We will continuously study the possibility, but there is no concrete plan at this stage."

MEh, if it becomes viable they will be there, period. At this stage this is all MS is doing.

No MS have concrete plans, heck even a name for it. They seem far more along the road than Sony do. Don't assume China will like PS more just because they're in the same area of the world as well.


The first console manufacturer through this process appears to be Microsoft, who are reportedly planning on releasing the Xbox One in China in late 2014.


Microsoft will be teaming up with Funshion, a Chinese VOD service in the vein of Netflix and Hulu. Funshion is owned by BesTV, who Microsoft recently announced that a partnership to bring “family games and related services” to China. The two companies have yet to announce what they are specifically working on, but they have spent nearly $80 million so far.
