I predict in 5 years it will be hard to find anything but a very small 1080P TV. They still sold black and white ones in the 90's but few bought them.
4K is the future. The new streaming h.265 standard and faster Internet will help push it more too. But they do need a new cable to get 60p or my prefered 120p frame rate up. Not sure if HDMI is going to make it.
Personally, I find any TV over say 40" really should be 4K. (And yes, I have a larger 1080p one.)
