Seriously, Nintendo is not THAT Important

So, after the discussion has run its course, how do you feel about Nintendo? Or more specifically, if you had to name one video game company that deserves to be put on a pedestal, which one would it be?

My opinion afterward mostly resembles what it was before. I have a newfound respect for their cultural significance, but in the end they are a largely successful company that produces largely fantastic games. I don't think they define the video game industry in the same way other companies can be said to define their own, but they are the most visible presence in that community.

So while I won't deny they've had a strong impact on gaming then and now, I'm not comfortable with the idea of putting them, or any company in the industry, on a pedestal.
