Aye.

Iwata has presented an understanding of the video game market after the GameCube failure (a project he was majorly involved in). After the Wii and DS, he and others became arrogant and thought that they could push any ideals of Nintendo's developers onto the market. Arrogance can be cured by failure, and the one thing that grows even through failure is experience.

The Gamecube was launched under Yamauchi's watch. There are plenty of issues that can be hung on Iwata, but he wasn't in charge of the Gamecube. He wasn't even the expected to be named as CEO. Minoru Arakawa , the found of NoA, was the expected successor to Yamauchi. Iwata was the President of HAL laboratories at the time.
