Nintendo won't hit their forecasts. How did they get them so wrong?

That doesn't make then out of touch with consumers nor the market. Only with reality. 

Well, it sort of does. They misread consumers and the market. I wouldn't say they're "out of touch" maybe, but they're definitely not very good at predicting the consumer/market.

That would make almost all forecasts in recent years where neither Sony, MS nor Nintendo are in touch with consumers/market, since is extremely common for companies to not meet their targets.

Is basically the same as Capcom wanting to sell 5 million copies of RE 6, the game sold like 3 million units or something, very good sales meaning that a lot of people were interested and (in some cases) liked the game. Based on sales they were "in touch" with the consumer and the market, they however where too optimistic (or delusional) with their forecasts.
