It is the fastest selling Nintendo game in America if these numbers are close to accurate. Mario 3 and 64 don't come close, Mario 64 launched with N64, the most it could have sold was about 400k in the first week. I'm pretty sure Pokemon Yellow sold 1 million in 2 weeks according to Nintendo and this link
