Why PS4/XBO could match PS3/360 WW sales in the US alone.

Sony and cable providers could easily sub the consoles and make them competitive price wise.

2) People view games consoles as a specialist piece of hardware for games - if they dont want games they wont buy it

Non gaming devices are going to be a thing of the past very shortly. Most all devices are becoming internet connected, and getting more powerful every year. Wether it be local andriod  or iOS apps, or network services like onlive and PS now every device will be a gaming device. Non gaming devices will be the flip phone of today.

3) TV subs are quickly declining in US, meaning some of the integral functions of XBONE are going to become redundant to alot of people in 5+ years.

This is why this makes so much since on the XBO side. Traditional cable companies need something to spark there services. What better way than to remove the limitations of their lame boxes.
