I don't doubt for a second that Nintendo is really hard to work with when you run into trouble and have to contact them. The fact that the developer had to wait a week before getting an answer which was probably about very specific hardware problems, coupled with that the question had to be translated to Japanese and the answer back to English, just smells trouble. The translation team probably weren't even familiar with the hardware! Still it's hard to grasp that Nintendo still has challenges with online after almost ten years from the competition...

The least I can say is definitely that Nintendo's "unique approach" means don't give a damm about third parties. If they want support from western third parties, even though it sure as hell don't look like they want, they desperately need to get out of their bubble. Best of luck to Nintendo in the coming years, I would really like to see how they handle the whole Wii U affair from here and out.
