8-10 times longer? So, seeing as how most big titles took at least one year to eighteen months in the 7th gen, games will now take 8-15 years to make?! That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard! 
Perhaps they meant laying the ground work for the future, versatile engines and tools for x86 development; perhaps. They probably started this work a long time ago, but this is still a load of bull.
Last gen had the massive HD transition, an entirely new era in console game development, the 8th gen is a continuation on the same path with different custom die chipsets that are a lot closer to the actual machines doing the actual development.
Capcom is full of it. And; Resident Evil 7 will probably be pathetic, just like 6.
