You get the wrong idea. NPD guesstimates what MS could report. Not the other way around.

Do you want me to tell you, why MS knows more about their sales and their revenue (you know, the stuff they report to investors and pay their taxes for) than NPD? If that is the starting point, it will be a long night and I am tired.
