Well given "console war" has been around as a phrase for a few console generations I'd say stronghold is the perfect word to use for a country where sales of the console concerned has been higher than the competition, particularly where the competition has won out in nearly every other market. Or in the case of Europe in absolutely every other market. And "war" has been used in retail competition terminology for decades. Ever heard of a "price war"? |
Stronghold is a defensive construction. So unless Microsoft pilled up thousands of Xbox consoles to prevent ships from delivering any PS4's to the UK, using the term ''stronghold'' is just plain silly.
