I saw the conjuring last night. It was very good. Great attention to detail. I was born in the 70's and we had headphones just like the ones used in the movie, many other things were very familiar too.
Some of the paranormal stuff was a bit silly, but the actors responded great to what was happening and the sound effects did a good job at making it look scary. The suspense was the real star, thanks to great pacing.
The scares didn't work for me as usual, that only seems to work when I smoke pot and I haven't done that in 10 years, kinda why I grew out of horror movies. As a visual time piece, detailing the early days of paranormal investigation it's an 8 for me, yet as a whole 7/10. For how great it all looked it still used the annoying sudden loud noises gimmick far too often for my liking.
