Very good.
Though with #5 I think you need to define "failure" better.
I had hoped Wii U would be better and we had many a conversation on this topic. In the end I have to bow and realize you were right all along.
Nintendo can't compete like Sony because they are not Sony. They can't have a powerful console and good 3rd party support as 3rd parties simply won't support Nintendo as Nintendo is too much of a software competition.
Therefore Nintendo simply needed more Wii. Lower cost console with truly unique experiences and games.
3DS I think started as a failure but will finish as a success because unlike Wii U, they can easily ignore its 3D feature, reduce its price to appropriate levels, and continue to create that unique software.
Whereas Wii U cannot drop the gamepad and that is the reason its $300. Instead they can only support it for 4/5 years and bring a successor. Even with low sales, it will still be long-term profitable for Nintendo.
Hopefully Wii U/3DS successor will be the blue ocean shark it needs to be.
