The main reason for that software gap is due to Americans buying more games (and them buying more 360's). For example, if Europeans bought more games than Americans, PS3 would be comfortably ahead.

Well, we don't know the official numbers. MS never posted their numbers. I think given the number of PS3s sold, more games were sold for it.
