Because amongst all retail 3DS games released so far, it's the game best suited to digital download, and Nintendo did push digital download for that game particularly. I could honestly see it having 50% digital and 50% retail, while the others (not counting copies obtained through deals like the "buy one of these games and a 3DS XL, and download Super Mario 3D Land for free") I'd expect to be somewhere around 10-15% digital. |
Nothing sells like Pokemon on a handheld, I'm sure Pokemon has sold a buttload of digital copies as well. But If anything, 3D Land might still be the best selling title for the moment (not counting the free downloads, of which I have one despite already having a physical copy) if for nothing more than having over a year long headstart in the digital download department. However, 3D land also had the same headstart in the physical department and Pokemon still beat it out, so I suspect Pokemon might have outsold or be close to outselling it on both formats.
There's no way in hell that animal crossing sold that much digitally. That just crazy talk! crazy talk I say!
